WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN SOLIDARITY CORPS
PROGRAMME (ex EVS - European Voluntary Service)?

The European Solidarity Corps programme is an initiative of the European Union that allows young people to build a more inclusive society THROUGH INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, with the aim of supporting vulnerable people and of responding to social challenges. It aims to offer stimulating experiences to young people who want to help and acquire transversal and professional skills through a volunteering project, an internship and a work experience.

YES BUT... WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The European Solidarity Corps allow young volunteers aged between 18 and 30 to participate in international volunteering activities.

The European Solidarity Corps promotes the involvement of all young people regardless of their educational level, social background and cultural background: it is a programme for everyone!

This means that it does not require you to know foreign languages perfectly or to have the best CV in the world: the European Solidarity Corps is also made for those who have finished high school and do not know which university to choose or for those who do not know whether to continue studying or looking for a job.

It is an experience that you can do even if you haven’t finished high school or if you don’t speak English or the local language: volunteering will be an experience that will make you understand who you are and what you want while developing many skills, including language skills, and discovering the world!

YES BUT... WHAT IS IT FOR?

Participating in the European Solidarity Corps is mainly a learning experience: thanks to non formal education the volunteers can improve their competences for the benefit of their personal and professional development.

YES BUT... WHAT DOES A VOLUNTEER DO?

The activities within the European Solidarity Corps can cover a wide range of topics: from working with children, young people or the elderly to the support to preserve the environment or the cultural heritage.

Each project has its own specific description and can have a variable duration ranging (usually) between 1 and 12 months.

Vicolocorto organizes pre-departure meetings with the volunteers, as well as final evaluation meeting at the end of the volunteering project.

In addition to that, you can take part in Volunteering Teams, volunteering projects from 2 weeks to 2 months involving up to 40 young people from all over Europe. In this case, young people (always aged between 18 and 30) can participate more than once, even if they have already taken part in a long-term project.
